ATM

Air Traffic Management

Air Transport is expecting to grow on a continuous way during the future coming years. The common challenge is to keep the highest level of Safety and Security meanwhile increasing the flow capacity.

The foundation is Information Sharing between all the stakeholders involved in the future of ATM. This next generation ATM system should be developed with a Network Centric view and designed with a business model methodology. The main constraint is to keep the flexibility in order to cope with any new issue regarding operational, technical, environmental and legal aspects. The response could be a Service Oriented Architecture as promoted in the SESAR definition phase.

The major trend is related to information sharing to increase the flow capacity thanks to a better use of airspaces, airports and advanced 4 D trajectories. This objective relies on a seamless connectivity of all stakeholders through performing, fixed and mobile networks in support of Digital Voice and Data Link. And simultaneously, it appears mandatory to guarantee the data security and the network reliability in order to insure the confidence of each stakeholder.

As a major supplier in systems integration for Air Defense, CS shows its competency as a prime contractor for civil and military programmes including the implementation of these requirements.

For a long time, CS is also contributing to the development of the air traffic control systems. CS activities covered the fields of research, prime contractor for applications implementation, and customers programme management adviser.
