EDF has opted for a replacement program that relies on the industrialization of the prototype, MISTRAL (Module d'Interface Spécialisable Temps Réel Adaptable en Ligne, or real-time adaptable interface module specialized online), the result of studies and developments conducted by EDF SEPTEN in cooperation with the company, MDS.
The project is to design and deploy, across all of the control centers in France's nuclear electrical powerplants, a tool intended primarily to train plant operators and which, eventually, will also serve as an engineering tool. The CS solution is to build on technological know-how in simulators, acknowledged worldwide. It backs its solution with an understanding of the functional skills needed in plant operations and relies on an exclusive partnership, which recognizes CS expertise as a prime contractor and includes the subcontractors, L-3 Communications MAPPS Incorporated and Clemessy.
