If there is one field that involves mission critical operations, it has to be banking transactions. With over 10 million interbank transactions every day and a guaranteed service availability agreed at 99.99 percent by the customer (which translates into a maximum of just four minutes of downtime per year), the e-RSB network demands the closest attention and all of the expertise that CS teams have to offer in security and continuity of operations.
This has required the design of a very-high performance installation, bullet proof to hacking attacks from the outside and able to handle the failure of one or several of its components without affecting the quality of service delivery. The CS solution covers at the same time software (e.g., off-the-shelf software components) and hardware (redundant machines) in order to be able to manage faults before any user becomes aware of them. Excellence is therefore a requirement at every level along the value chain.
