3.02.2011: EDF chose CS to set up the industrial information system of the European pressurized reactor in Flamanville, France

French power utility EDF awarded CS to realize and deploy the infrastructure of the industrial information system for the first 1,650MW EPR (3rd generation) in Flamanville.

CS has been selected by EDF to set up the network and computer infrastructure for the industrial information system of the EPR power station in Flamanville, whose objectives are:

• to facilitate the run of the nuclear plant unit,
• to perform differed time analysis of the nuclear plant unit status,
• to publish performance data from control systems to specific customer application,
• to develop and integrate technical bridges that allow safe access.

Building on its expertise in nuclear, CS was able to offer an efficient infrastructure, open and sustainable, based on a modular and scalable architecture, integrating proven and secure products and solutions to meet EDF challenges:

• security: taking into account the constraints of the nuclear environment and safety guidelines of information systems of EDF industrial domain,
• interoperability: interfaces with external applications and consistency with other systems of the whole control & command of Flamanville 3,
• supervision: a key feature of the industrial information system is to oversee the operational status of all target system equipment,
• continuity and availability: operational maintenance to ensure availability of systems in operation for 3 years.

“CS is happy being selected by EDF. This positions CS on a strategic program and opens perspectives for future EPR projects. CS confirms its place as a determined actor with great potential in the French nuclear industry.” declares Eric Blanc-Garin, Chief Executive Officer of CS.
