CS contributes to reduce traffic congestion of Santiago de Chile and its suburb

On December 28th 2011, the Ministry of Civil Works of Chile inaugurated the first Fast ETC lanes developed by CS Communication & Systèmes on A5 Expressway (Ruta Del Maipo). This expressway links Puerto Montt in South Chile with Santiago Del Chile.

This milestone is the first step in a global project won by CS on July 29, 2011. In this project, CS will implement a Toll Collection system with 80 ETC lanes including 12 fast ETC lanes monitored by a full Back Office suite.
This project is part of an interoperability program led by the Chilean Ministry of Public Works to reduce traffic congestion of Santiago de Chile and its suburb.
Chile’s Ministry representatives have been impressed by the new technology coming to Chile that will reduce traffic delays at toll plazas thanks to the Fast ETC lanes. To use the Fast ETC lanes, drivers simply use their ETC tags which are fully interoperable with the Santiago Free Flow System which has been in operation since 2004.
This new system significantly improves the lives of thousands of Chilean drivers who endure the daily aggravation of getting stuck in the traffic at the three toll booths owned by Ruta Del Maipo.
The 80 ETC lanes will start operating on the 3 main plazas and 39 entry and exit plazas in July 2012. Every Fast ETC lane (limited to 50km/h) will be equipped with an electronic sign that will inform drivers of their speed and improve safety.
CS is committed to implementing their FastToll ERP solution which is a full Back Office Suite developed to manage the whole Toll Collection System. This suite includes applications for monitoring and control, registering and managing accounts, billing, as well as enforcement all with complete interoperability.
“CS demonstrates once again its capacity to design and deliver high performance projects anywhere in the world in a short timeframe. Based on recognized and innovative solutions, our systems provide the highest standards of reliability, and safety to guarantee driver’s comfort and speed up traffic flow.” ” CS ITS General Manager Arnaud Quemard said.

CS is a major actor in the design, integration and operation of mission critical systems. CS is listed on the Euronext Paris stock markets - Compartment C (Shares: Euroclear 7896 / ISIN FR 0007317813). For more information, please go to: www.c-s.fr
